The Efficacy of Two Novel Retreatment Systems in the Removal of Root Canal Obturating Materials (An In vitro Study)

BACKGROUND: The complete removal of root filling material is one the main goals non-surgical endodontic retreatment. Thus, development new techniques and instruments aiming to promote this task presents clinical significance. AIM: purpose study was assess amount residual canal materials (gutta-percha/sealer) after using two different retreatment systems ultrasonic tip. METHODS: Forty-five mandibular premolar teeth were mechanically instrumented obturated. Retreatment performed Endostar RE (Group 2), Rogin system 3), tip 1). Roots separated buccolingually into halves. A digital camera connected stereomicroscope captured images each half. Image-J software used evaluate measure areas with remaining in third (cervical, middle, apical). RESULTS: Data analysis revealed significant differences between groups coronal, apical thirds (p < 0.05). tips (G1) significantly more efficient removing gutta-percha sealers compared (G3) (G2) kits. CONCLUSIONS: All file left some canals. Ultrasonic had maximum efficacy for comparison under investigation.
